PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Overall Objective
To empower the poorest people -both in rural and urban areas - to stand up, refuse to bribe and demand their rights granted under the variety of centrally sponsored schemes like NREGS etc.

Immediate Objective
To create awareness and empowerment about their rights at District and Village level targeted at poor and the vulnerable groups
To stimulate positive attitude and action in relevant local govt. departments
To build institutional capacity of TI INDIA and its State Chapters.

Project Output :
Intensive consultations with various CVO’s, NGO’s etc. carried out in 31 states and UTs of Union of India at grass root level to know their perception, experience and estimation of Corruption levels.
A high quality study report is prepared on comparative analysis of corruption and mal- administration based on empirical household survey and estimation in 31 states and UTs of Union of India along with suggested remedial measures.
Report launched and disseminated with maximum media coverage and Citizens’ awareness raised.
To implement, disseminate, evaluate and get feed back of study through Release of Key Highlights, one National Workshop, training of NGOs, about 40’ district / tehsil / block level awareness camps.
To empower and create awareness in citizens about citizens’ charters, RTI, Social audits and e-governance at grass roots level.

The proposed activities will be implemented by TI INDIA in close association with its state chapters, CMS, CVO’s, NGO’s, people’s movements etc. The project will strongly focus on advocacy to benefit the poorest and the most vulnerable people. The Project will focus on local level govt. departments. which have maximum impact on such people.

The project will strongly adopt participatory methodologies to ensure quality participation of grass roots level poor and vulnerable citizens, various CVO’s, NGOs’, Media, Govt. officials etc
